Hello! And welcome to the first episode in a little podcast series about my trip to Greece.
As most of you will know, I headed off to Greece on the 5th of February to join up with a group organised by Involvement Volunteers International, to work in the refugee camps. There were around 30 of us – doctors, nurses, naturopaths, nutritionists, and other allied health workers, all hoping to make a difference. Our mission was to break up into smaller groups and head to various camps throughout Greece (which contained mainly Syrian and Afghani refugees) to volunteer our time and expertise wherever needed.
In this episode, you will hear my adventures from our first week in Athens and Ritsona. Find out what’s working in the camps… and what isn’t. Listen as I explain the challenges we faced, and why I’m frustrated with the system, but why I’m also hopeful for the future.
If you donated money to my crowdfunding campaign, tune in to see where your money went, and how it was gratefully received.
I hope you enjoy this episode! I’ll be back next week with Part 2, where I move on to Chios (an island near Turkey) where things start to get a little more hardcore.
