As social creatures, we’re hard-wired for connection. And sometimes, gossip can provide us with a sense of bonding that we all lure, regardless of whether the conversation is positive or negative. Generally speaking, people gossip for a variety of reasons like they’re wanting to feel superior, maybe they have a more sadistic personality, they’re bored, have anxiety or want to feel part of a group. What’s important is we have a choice whether we get on the gossip train or not. We can actually choose to change the conversation, show empathy and kindness or move away and ignore it altogether.
