Show Notes

Amy Taylor-Kabbaz is a writer, producer, speaker and mother to three young children. After more than a decade covering breaking news and current affairs for the ABC around the country, her ‘traditional’ career took an unexpected turn when she found herself lost, overwhelmed and diagnosed with a thyroid condition after the birth of her first daughter.

11 years – and two more babies – later, she is now a best-selling author, the host of the ‘The Happy Mama Movement’ podcast (with more than 200,000 downloads), runs numerous online programs for mothers all over the world, is an international award-winning coach, sub-editor of Mama Disrupt magazine and expert contributor to Mindful Parenting magazine, and the creator of the #1 iTunes meditations for children ‘Bedtime Explorers’. Her latest book ‘Mama Rising’ was released by Hay House in Australia and New Zealand in December 2019, and will be released internationally in March 2020.

In this episode we discover:
* what is matrescence, and how does it change our understanding of what happens to a woman when she becomes a mother
* Amy’s own journey as a woman and how finding this definition has changed everything (the inner split, and the maternal wall)
* The one key understanding that we all need to know about matrescence and motherhood (the return to the feminine and a chance to redefine this for ourselves)

This is a wonderful episode discovering and honouring the rites of passage for women – worth a listen even if you aren’t a Mama. The episode gets heated and there are a couple of f bombs so please use headphones if listening with little humans around.
