In this episode of the Self Love Podcast, Kim chats with Emily Mills and Cyndi O’Meara about the upcoming Soulful Long Lunch and the powerful role that connection, community, and food play in creating wellbeing. Emily shares her passion for bringing people together through meaningful experiences that nourish both body and soul, while Cyndi reflects on her experiences as both an attendee and speaker, highlighting the genuine relationships, collaborations, and inspiration that emerge from these gatherings. Together, they explore why human connection remains one of the most valuable aspects of wellness in an increasingly digital world.
The conversation also dives into the upcoming Harvest to Wholefood Soulful Long Lunch at Alsahwa Estate on 19 June, featuring Cyndi O’Meara, Mitch Bray from Beach Farm Noosa, and ethos head chef Mal Meiers. From regenerative farming and nutrient-rich food to supporting local businesses and fostering authentic community, this episode celebrates the ripple effect that occurs when people come together around a shared table. Emily and Cyndi share their personal journeys, discuss the growing awareness of nutrition and regenerative agriculture, and remind us that family, friends, food, and fun remain at the heart of a thriving and connected life.

Quotes:
Emily
I have realised in my mid 40s creating events is my superpower.
The soulful long lunches were born because of connection and to be inspired and then be nourished on all levels.
I have always loved events and experiences and authentic connection with community.
As daunting as it can be to arrive at an event by yourself, we do have a lot of people that do it and they connect with others straight away.
It is a time to pause and come into the space, come into that moment of time.
I want people to go away with some tools that they can use in their daily lives.
I wanted to tie in just a bit more of an authentic experience where we are around a dining table and we do have that connection.
I wanted to make it a bit more accessible to people as well.
Simplify as much as possible and finding those things in your life that make you feel connected.
Connection with beautiful food and then connection with people.
Those people that fulfil your cup and make you feel light and bright, stay with them and feel that connection.
Cyndi
When the ecology is working, the plants are working, the animals are healthy, the plants are healthy, and then we eat foods that are highly nutritious.
When we nourish our body because we are eating foods that are nourished by our farmer and then cooked by the chef.
There are many ingredients for health. It is not just nutrition, it is sunshine, movement, connection.
I do it for me and my family foremost.
As I learn, I teach.
When we learn and we educate, you don’t know the lives that you are changing.
We try and be the best that we can and then that knock on effect happens.
I think we are in a bubble, but the bubble’s bigger than it was when I started this back in the 80s.
I always believe when you have a philosophy, then you know exactly what you should be eating.
It is nice to have praise to know you are on the right track.
Community is really important. Connect and support your community and that will help with commerce.
Buy local as much as you can buy from your local people.
