Mel Kovacevic, founder of The Seed Cycle is a Functional Nutrition and EFT Practitioner. In this podcast we talk a lot about the different phases of a woman’s cycle and how important it is to be in tune with it. It is through the power of education that we can understand ourselves better and therefore feel we have more control and understanding. Throughout history we have followed cycles and Mel highlights that today, more than ever, we could do with tapping back into this wisdom.
In a cycle we follow these rhythms:
1 – Menstrual Phase (Day 1 and coincides with a new moon) – Dream phase, reflection and creativeness.
2 – Follicular Phase – Get shit done, do stuff, perfectionism.
3 – Ovulation (Usually around days 14-15 and coincides with full moon) – Giving phase, connection.
4. – Luteal Phase – Get into nature more, and do more self care.
Seed cycling is an ancient, science-based guide for hormone balance and to support fertility! It is the practice of eating specific seeds during the two main phases of your menstrual cycle (follicular and luteal) to help promote the healthy balance of estrogen and progesterone levels. It’s a gentle and completely natural way to reduce PMS symptoms, boost fertility, and can help stimulate menstruation if it’s absent (amenorrhea), and other symptoms as a result of hormonal imbalances.
Seed cycling can be used at any stage of a woman’s life (including post-menopause). However, it’s especially beneficial when coming off of hormonal birth control or struggling with post-birth control syndrome symptoms like acne, irregular periods or missing periods, or PMS.
Her definition of Self Love is about self-acceptance and honouring nature and honouring our intuition and when you come from that place then everything else flows on.
