In this powerful episode of The Self Love Podcast, Kim speaks with Peter Norris, author of The Bank Robber’s Boy, a deeply moving memoir about growing up as the son of one of Australia’s most notorious bank robbers.

Peter shares his journey from a childhood marked by abandonment, trauma, and instability to becoming a successful CEO, athlete and advocate for kindness and personal responsibility. He reflects on pivotal moments that shaped his resilience, including a life changing decision at just 11 years old to stop blaming others and take ownership of his emotional world.

Together, Kim and Peter explore self love, forgiveness, courage and the profound impact of small acts of kindness. They discuss modern masculinity, emotional expression, relationship dynamics and the challenges facing young men today.

Peter also draws powerful parallels between athletic performance and personal growth, reminding us that we are capable of far more than we believe. This episode is a moving reminder that while we can’t choose our beginnings, we can choose who we become, through courage, compassion and everyday acts of kindness.

About Peter:
At thirteen, Peter Norris made the kind of call that defines a life. His father was a career criminal – Australia’s Most Wanted, to be exact. His brother? Cut from the same cloth. Grandfather? Same story. Crime was the family business. Chaos, the inheritance. But Peter wasn’t here to follow a legacy. He was brave enough to rewrite it. He walked away from the only life he’d ever known – and built a new one from the wreckage.

Forged on courage, not crime. On leadership, not lineage. A road paved with bold moves, not bloodlines. Raised on the run, Peter learned early… Read the room. Make tough calls under pressure. Stay calm in chaos. That instinct didn’t fade – it became his superpower. Today, he’s the CEO of a multimillion-dollar hospitality group. A people-first influence in an industry defined by burnout. Foster carer. Elite athlete. Best-selling author of The Bank Robber’s Boy.
Peter doesn’t just talk about transformation. He is transformation. And when he speaks, he doesn’t just motivate. He moves people. From executives to entrepreneurs, middle managers to frontline teams, Peter has this uncanny ability to cut through the noise and tap into something deeper – the part of us that already knows we’re capable of more.

His delivery is raw, honest, and impossible to ignore. He speaks with street-smart wisdom and lived experience – on courage, choice, kindness and the brutal beauty of becoming who you were never supposed to be.

His message is simple. And it hits like home: You don’t choose the hand you’re dealt. But you’ve got the power to play it like a winner. Peter Norris doesn’t point to what’s possible. He gives you the guts to go after it.

His definition of Self Love is: Self love is forgiving myself when I make dumb decisions. Letting myself dream big! Trusting my own worth.

His favourite quote is his own quote: The life you seek is discovered in the brave choices you are willing to make.
