Show Notes

Hello! And welcome to the third and final instalment in a little podcast series about my trip to Greece.

As most of you will know, I headed off to Greece on the 5th of February to join up with a group organised by Involvement Volunteers International, to work in the refugee camps. There were around 30 of us – doctors, nurses, naturopaths, nutritionists, and other allied health workers, all hoping to make a difference. Our mission was to break up into smaller groups and head to various camps throughout Greece (which contained mainly Syrian and Afghani refugees) to volunteer our time and expertise wherever needed.

In this episode, you will hear more from my time on an island called Chios, where boats full of refugees are arriving regularly from Turkey.

In this episode I’ll take you on a virtual trip to Souda Camp, where we would serve afternoon tea every day to occupants. Tea service was a simple but super important service provided by the volunteers at CESRT. I’ll also tell you about some of the interesting characters I met there.

I hope you enjoy this episode. Make sure you follow me on Facebook for more updates on how your donations were spent. We are still waiting for a final quote for air conditioning for the Children’s Centre, so I’ll keep you posted on what happens there.

A huge and heartfelt thank you again to EVERYONE who donated and made this trip to Greece possible. I hope I’ve done you proud over there! It’s truly been a life changing experience for me, and I hope I’ve helped (in some small way) to make life in the camps a better place for the refugees.
